Lets Go Condors!

Teddy Bear tossing was at its best in Bakersfield on November 24th. Each year, the Bakersfield Condors host their annual Teddy Bear toss event. The purpose of this bear throwing extravaganza is to help less-fortunate children through The United Way of Kern County.  If you have never been, its quite the experience. Once our local hockey team(Condors) makes the first goal, stuffed animals start flying through the arena in hopes to land on the ice. All the stuffed, soon to be bedtime buddies are then collected and donated to the children in need. Its not everyday you see Winnie the Pooh, Baloo the Bear, and Paddington soaring through the air in an attempt to land on ice.

What made the night so special for us at VAC was that a few of our clients and staff were able to attend this event for free. The tickets were given to us from the Bakersfield Condors Big Buddies program. This program allows underprivileged children and military to attend the event at no charge thanks to local organizations. Not only was the event special for the children who took home a Teddy, but it was an amazing experience for our VAC clients and staff.

The Bakersfield Condors lost the game that night, but gained some lifelong fans here at VAC. Moments and memories like the ones created on November 24, 2018 are things that our clients hold onto and cherish. We here at VAC want to thank the Bakersfield Condors for being gracious and giving toward the community we serve. There were a lot of laughs, a lot of popcorn, and a whole lot of flying furry forest friends. Say that one 5 times fast! Go Condors
